Pin Up Look
Step one here, is just making sure that your face is ready and capable of wearing makeup. If you have healthy skin and lips the final look will come out so much better! Don't mind spots and blemishes of course.
Take any cover stick and cover whatever needs to be covered, like spots, red areas, tired areas, like the skin under your eyes. After this put on some foundation one or two shades lighter than your tone(You can actually use any shade, but pin up girls do often look very pale). This step is optional, but it would often give you a better finish.

Now to the eyes! You will easily find good video tutorials, but else wise: 4
Start out with a light colour, preferably a glittery white, and spread it lightly all over your eyelid all the way to the eyebrow 5
Blend in a medium brown colour in the crease of the eye. 6
Add some very dark brown, or black on the end of the crease. You'll have to blend a lot after this. 7
With a fluid eyeliner, make a thin line over the eyelashes, and finish it of catlike. 8
There’s an unwritten makeup rule that says either you focus on the eyes, or you focus on the lips. A pinup girl look focuses on the lips, so don't over do the eyes! 9
Darken your eyebrows with a brown eyeliner to create a glamourous youthful look. You can also use brown mascara to create this effect. 10
With a dark pink or a red lip liner, draw a line on the exact outline of your lips. After that its about the filling! Now fill in with a red lipstick. The shade depends on which effect your going for, but the signature shade would be a strong red. You'd be better of using a brush to apply the lipstick than putting it on directly from the stick. 11
Finish of with some gloss on top of the red. 12
Voila! You have the look of a Pin up girl!Tuesday, May 10, 2011
The Importance of a Good Skin Care Routine
The Importance of a Good Skin Care Routine
When it comes to developing a skin care routine that optimizes the health of your skin, there are many variables to consider. With products for every type of skin need, it can be difficult to identify which is right for you.
The first step in formulating your individual skin care routine is to identify what kind of skin you have. Is it dry or oily, light or dark, wrinkled or smooth, or somewhere in between? Ingredients in each skin care product should be tailored to meet the needs of your particular skin type. There are three basic skin types:
- Dry
- Oily
- Combination/normal
Which type of skin you have depends on the amount of oil your skin produces.
No matter what your skin type, though, the basic steps of a good skin care routine are the same:
Cleanse
No matter what your skin type, you will most likely only need to wash your face in the morning and before bed. Since the skin loses its natural lubrication when it is over-washed, it’s best to keep extra washing to a minimum.Bar soap can be harsh and drying to the skin, so use a cleanser specifically formulated for the face. Look for products that are specifically designed for your skin type and then experiment to find the one that works best for you. Often times products will be labeled according to the special skin type or skin need that it addresses.
If you have dry skin, make sure that you aren’t using too harsh of a cleanser. Dry skin needs gentle cleansing. Try beauty bars, which are “superfatted” and contain emollients, like olive oil or lanolin, which make the skin softer and add lipids to the skin. Milky liquid cleansers and tissue-off cleansing creams are also good options for dry skin.
If you have oily skin, avoid “superfatted” soaps and creamy cleansers, as these will only increase the amount of oil on the skin. Instead, use products designed for oily skin. Don’t give in to the temptation to wash your face every time it feels greasy. By doing so, you’ll kick the sebaceous gland’s production of oil into overdrive as the skin tries to replace the lubrication it loses when it is washed.
For combination/normal skin, look for products labeled for your skin type. Most likely, you’ll have to experiment to find the right cleanser for your particular skin. The right cleanser will be one that doesn’t overdry skin but still does a good job of cleaning off dirt and oil.
Watch this video for more information on Perricone’s Skin Clear products:
Moisturize
Moisturizer is a must for dry skin. The drier the skin, the more moisturizing ingredients your moisturizer should contain. Some ingredients to look for are:- Glycerin
- Hyaluronic acid
- Dimethicone
Oily skin generally doesn’t need extra moisture, but there are moisturizers out there for those with oily skin. If you feel you need a moisturizer for your oily skin, look for “non-comodogenic” products that won’t clog pores, and find ones with humectants, like glycerin, which lock moisture into the skin by attracting and retaining water.
For combination skin, use moisturizer in the places where you need it, but don’t apply it everywhere if you have oily areas on your face. Usually the driest areas are on the cheeks. If you have dry areas under your eyes, use a cream designed for the eye area since this delicate skin is thinner than the rest of the skin on the face.
Tips:
- Use moisturizer when the skin is still damp. This helps the skin lock in extra moisture.
- Only use as much moisturizer as you need. Over-moisturizing can cause clogged pores, leading to breakouts.
Repair
After cleansing and moisturizing, your skin care routine should tailor to the specific conditions that affect your skin. For wrinkles and sagging, or to achieve an “instant lift” effect, look for products that contain antioxidants and DMAE. Antioxidants repair cells and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, while DMAE boosts production of acetylcholine, making skin firmer and tighter.
For red or irritated skin, use a product that contains vitamin C ester. As well as being an antioxidant, vitamin C ester is soothing and non-irritating to the skin. It can reduce redness and irritation, even from sunburn or psoriasis.
To reduce the appearance of pores, look for products that both reduce the amount of bacteria on the face and fill in excess space left by enlarged pores. For example, Dr. Perricone formulates his pore refining products with:
- Beta glucans to dispose of excess bacteria that clogs and inflames pores
- Microspheres to fill in pores
Finding a product that is tailored to your skin care concerns can greatly improve the appearance of your skin and improve skin conditions considerably, so take time to experiment.
Prevent
A good skin care routine isn’t just about looking good for the day. It’s also about setting yourself up for beautiful and healthy skin for life. Taking the proper steps to promote both short- and long-term skin health is just as important as washing your face.Sunscreen is an important product for everyone to include in their skin care routines. To streamline your daily routine, look for moisturizers or products you would use anyway that also contain SPF 15. If you’re planning on being outside for any extended period of time, take the time to use stronger SPF. Without proper protection, damage from years of unprotected time in the sun eventually shows up in the form of wrinkles, sun spots, and uneven pigmentation.
Another easy way to promote skin health is by using products that contain antioxidants. Antioxidants protect the cell by neutralizing free radicals, which are unstable cells that take electrons from healthy cells. By incorporating a skin care product with antioxidants into your everyday routine, like the Concentrated Restored Treatment, you help your body fight off the free radicals that cause cell damage and unhealthy skin.
If you don’t have time to apply many different products, don’t worry. Many products address more concerns than you expect. For example, many moisturizers contain SPF, and many repairing products contain the same ingredients that will prevent future skin problems. Read labels to find out how many aspects of your routine you can address with each product.
However, even if you are able to combine some parts of your routine, make sure you are getting the best possible products for your individual concerns. Your skin will thank you later.

I know this colors been out for awhile but i am obsessed
Saint Germain
Saint Germain is an obnoxiously bright, in your face, On the MAC website it's described as a clean pastel pink. Saint Germain is an Amplified finish, which means its an intense shade, it goes on perfectly opaque. It almost has a purple tone to it, it's defenitely a blue based pink. It's going to be a very difficult shade for anyone to wear, and would honestly look best on lighter skin tones, for darker skin tones I would recommend show orchid if you want a bright pink shade. But really I would recommend it so someone thats dearing someone thats not afraid to be out there.
And Show Orchid is more of a darker shade that works best for someone thats looking for a more darker shade than the Saint Germain.

Tips for choosing the right Lipsticks
Tips for choosing the right lipstick.
- 1 Choose a lipstick color that is similar to the description of your skin. Forget about figuring out if you are a winter or spring. Instead, opt for choosing a lipstick color that fits the description of your skin tone. For instance, if your skin is light, pick a light lipstick like peach. Similarly, if your skin is dark, pick a dark lipstick like raisin. Choosing a lipstick in this manner will help you stay on the right track and steer clear of major lip color disasters. It also helps you narrow down your choices quickly when you enter a store, especially since lipsticks are normally arranged on shelves from light to dark.
- 2 Choose a lipstick “finish” that complements your lip size. A lipstick finish describes the way in which a color sits on your lips. Finishes normally range from matte to shiny. Matte finishes show up as flat and dry. They usually look best on large lips because of their minimizing effect. Shiny finishes show up as glossy and moist. They usually look best on thin lips because of their plumping effect. As a result, you should choose a lipstick color that complements the size of your lips. If you are lucky enough to have medium sized lips, you can choose any finish.
- 3 Choose a lipstick texture that feels comfortable to you. Over the past decade, lipstick textures have grown from thick and heavy to light and creamy. Manufacturers of lipstick finally figured out that no two women are alike and so they don’t want to wear the same type of texture of lipstick. As a result, you have a lot of choices these days. In the area of texture, there really isn’t a wrong or right choice, just pick a lipstick that feels good on you.
- 4 Choose a lipstick that is right for your lifestyle. Picking a lipstick that meshes with your lifestyle is key. If you work in an office and really don’t have time to freshen up, choose a lipstick that is durable and long lasting. If you work outside and need protection from the sun, choose a lipstick that has sunscreen in it. In other words, choose a lipstick that is right for the lifestyle you lead.
- 5 Make your final choice in lipstick based on what looks good on you. At the end of the day, you won’t be happy with your lipstick choice, if it doesn’t look good on you. So, no matter what the make-up girl says about the new lipstick, don’t buy it unless it looks good on you.

Give Your Face A SummerTime Glow
The party season is here and it’s time to sparkle. You can add extra glow to your face or body with some fun new cosmetics, and enhance bare skin with a flattering iridescent touch – whatever your age and skin type. Follow our tips for the best ways to dazzle.
- Use a little shine and shimmer to detract from flaws or to enhance eyelids, cheeks or brow bones.
- A facial luminiser can be used alone or mixed with your usual foundation – either on the whole face or as a highlighter. The tiny mirrored particles reflect light away from imperfections to make your skin appear more even and radiant.
- For first-time sparkle experimenters, iridescent powders are simple to apply on face and body – they look gorgeous on sandalled feet.
- A touch of shine on the eyelids or brow bones will brighten and flatter the eye area. Apply it lightly in the middle of the lid, blending up and outwards, avoiding the inner corners if crinkled.
- Make your toes twinkle to match pretty summer sandals with sparkling glitter polishes.
- You can use make-up to enhance the skin on your shoulders, arms, décolletage, back or legs, just as you do on your face. Body moisturisers or bronzers that contain reflective shimmer particles have the same flaw-minimising effects as luminous make-up, resulting in more even, silky-looking skin.
- An iridescent sheen is subtle, yet very pretty, on fair-skinned shoulders and décolletage.
- A shimmer bronzer peps up pale legs or any part of the body needing extra summer colour.
- Three leading make-up artists share some of their professional secrets to help you shimmer in style.
"Keep a special brush solely for shimmer products. Attract light and open up the eyes by applying a quarter of a centimetre of shimmer with an eye-shadow brush or cotton bud on the lashline, from the inner corner out, halfway across both upper and lower lids - When using shimmer, stick to one iridescent shade rather than mixing. For a summery look, try mixing a shimmer powder bronzer with your foundation or body cream."
Fiona Corrigan
"For more mature skin choose fine-textured shimmers. On the face apply to cheekbones, forehead, eyelids, nose, chin and jawline, but avoid between the eyebrows and the sides of the nose. For upper body apply to shoulders and collarbones but avoid the middle of the décolletage." - Wayne Chick

Tips To Determine Your Skin Tone
Knowing how to determine your skin tone and applying that knowledge to your cosmetic and clothing selection can bring out the best in your appearance. We all know when a certain color looks great on us while other colors seem to leave us looking ashen and worn out.
Skin tones fall into three classifications, they are: Warm, Cool and Neutral. Below are some easy steps to help you deterimine your skin tone.
Vein test - in a natural light, look at the inside of your wrist; if the veins appear greenish this indicates you have yellow undertones and thus would have a warm skin tone. Veins that appear to be more bluish indicate a cool skin tone.
Pony tail test - pull all your hair back away from the face in a pony tail or with a headband and thoroughly cleanse the face. Place a white towel or cloth around your neck and shoulders, if you face looks more yellow this would indicate a warm skin tone, whereas a bluish reflection would mean a cool skin tone.
Silver/Gold test - If you think you look better in gold than silver, this indicates a warm skin tone. People with cool skin tones usually look better in silver. Additionally, you can use a gold and silver cloth for this test, hold a swatch of gold fabric under the chin, does it make you look healthy, ashen or neither. Try the same with silver fabric, what do you see? a bluish hue or yellow undertones?
Genetic natural color of eyes and hair - As a rule of thumb, normally people with blue, green or gray eyes with blond, black or brown hair have a cool skin tone. Additionally, cool skin tones will have a pink or rosy undertone. Those people with brown, black, or hazel eyes and have black, brown, blond, red, or strawberry blond hair are usually have a warm skin tone and have a golden or apricot undertone. However, there are always exceptions to the rule when trying to determine your skin tone by the color of your hair and eyes.
If after doing the above tests you are still unable to determine your skin type, you may fall into the neutral skin tone. Neutral skin tones can wear any color and look great, however neutral skin tones may lean towards either warm or cool. For instance, a neutral skin tone can look great in a warm color and fabulous in a cool color or vice a versa.
So what colors are best for your skin tone? Below is a short summary, again there are always exceptions to the rule.
Cool Skin Tone - Consider rich, true colors. These would include black, navy, red, shocking pink, rich raspberries, deep emerald greens, royal blue, plums or pure black. Additionally wear icy tones instead of pastels for a lighter color. Cool skin tones should avoid beige, orange and gold.
Warm Skin Tone- Consider earth colors either crisp or muted. Normally those with a warm skin tone look great in sage greens, gold, mochas, and bronzes. For a softer color try peach, apricot yellow.
Neutral Skin Tone - luckily for you, all colors will look good however, as indicated above most neutral skin tones will sway one way or another, so while a warm color may look great on you a cool color may look fabulous.
Selecting the right colors based on your skin tone can add so much to your overall appearance. The right color can add sparkle to your overall being and complexion while the wrong color can leave you looking ashen and your complexion washed out.

Makeup Tips On Sensitive Skin
Sensitive Skin easily gets blotchy or irritated when coming into contact with makeup, hair products—even sudden changes in temperature and humidity! Typical reactions are itching, burning, chafing and stinging skin.
- Don’t use harsh facial washes or soaps whose main ingredients are alcohols or fragrances– they’ll only further skin’s irritation.
- Use an unscented moisturizer to strengthen your skin and provide a barrier against irritants.
- A key to clearness is in fragrance-free makeup, like Clean Makeup and Pressed Powder
Makeup Tips On Combination Skin
Combination Skin usually expresses its unique qualities with oiliness in the t-zone and normal-to-dry skin everywhere else.
- Choose an oil-managing powder for your t-zone (and other oily areas) like Fresh Look Pressed Powder.
- Use a flexible make-up routine to help cope with combination skin's many moods.
Makeup Tips On Oily Skin
Oily Skin is shiny and sticky. It starts the day by feeling clean and fresh, but by noon, feels greasy and slick.
- Start with a deep cleanser that washes away dirt, oil, and fights bacteria.
- Use a gentle toner on your clean skin.
- Try foundations and powders that help control oily shine without causing dryness to skin, like Clean Oil Control Makeup.
- Avoid touching your face during the day! Oils from your hands get transferred from your palms or finders without you even realizing!
- Change your pillowcases more often. Oils can get trapped in the cloth and later irritate skin.

Makeup Talk on Dry Skin
Dry Skin occurs naturally as you age as the oil glands decrease their output. Dryness may also reflect your skin's sensitivity to skin care products, cleansers, or even your diet or your emotions.
- Choose double-duty foundations that moisturize while helping to smooth the appearance of skin’s surface., like Advanced Radiance or CG Smoothers.
- Avoid alcohol-based products, like harsh toners and astringents.
- Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! If your skin is extra dry, try a tinted moisturizer as a base for your foundation.
